I started attending boxing classes at New Life Gym in July 2014. I've always participated in sport and wanted to try my hand at something new.
At the time, I think like a lot of people, I felt I could do with losing a few pounds but didn't consider myself overweight as such. By training two to three times a week and cleaning my diet up I managed to lose 25 pounds in six months. It's been a real eye opener for me to lose this amount of weight in such a short period of time.
My first impressions of the place were really positive. As a beginner I was slightly anxious about going along to a martial arts gym, but David and the rest of the team made me feel really welcome. There's a good range of beginner and experienced fighters who are always happy to pass on their knowledge.
Classes are challenging but fun and like anything in life you get out of it what you put in.
